Relational Ontology and the Futures We Can Hold

Research Focus

We introduce “quantum belonging” as a transformative framework for futures research, moving away from a reliance on detached predictions toward an ontology of relationship. We argue that modern crises stem from a “separative” mindset that treats the future as an external object to be managed rather than a reality we are intrinsically entangled with. By synthesizing Western concepts like David Bohm’s implicate order and Carl Jung’s unus mundus with the profound Indigenous wisdom of Tjukurrpa, we highlights how futures are sustained through present-moment responsibility and continuity. This perspective redefines decision-making not as an exercise in forecasting, but as a lawful obligation to maintain the coherence of the entire relational field. Ultimately, we advocate for a shift where the future is “held” through practice and care rather than merely calculated through abstract models.
