The Crisis of Belonging

Research Focus

We explore a philosophical intersection between Hartmut Rosa’s theory of resonance and the Indigenous Anangu concept of Kanyini. This work addresses a modern crisis of belonging, arguing that alienation stems from a lack of meaningful connection to the world. To remedy this, we introduce “Deep Belonging,” a framework that views human existence as a multidimensional network of relationships involving land, kinship, spirit, and cosmology. Ultimately, we advocate for a relational ontology that reconnects individuals to the social and ecological systems that sustain them.
