Research Focus

We introduce the concept of Story Fields, a theoretical framework that views narratives as enduring relational environments rather than just temporary acts of speech. These fields function as dynamic structures that organize human experience, identity, and collective memory across generations, persisting long after a specific story is told. By drawing on process-relational theory and Indigenous perspectives like Tjukurrpa, we illustrate how individuals and communities inhabit these narrative worlds to sustain a sense of belonging and continuity. This approach shifts the academic focus from what stories represent to how they actively coordinate participation and social action within a shared culture. Ultimately, we argue that stories are living systems that facilitate both individual development and large-scale societal transformation.
