We introduce the concept of Story Fields to explain how migration functions as a dynamic encounter between different worlds of meaning. We describe how individuals carry inherited narratives from their homelands into new environments that possess their own established histories and social structures. By integrating Indigenous perspectives like Kanyini, we argue that belonging is a relational process tied to both people and place. A central focus is the emergence of The Third Story, a novel identity formed through the ongoing interaction between a migrant’s origins and their current surroundings. We frame migration as a generative process that creates unique cultural realities across generations.
