Indigenous Ways of Gathering, Bohmian Dialogue, and the Psyche as Field

Research Focus

We explore dialogue as a relational field that transcends simple communication, drawing connections between Indigenous Australian gathering practices, David Bohm’s philosophy, and depth psychology. We argue that meaningful exchange is an interpersonal and cosmological process where understanding emerges from the space between participants rather than from isolated individuals. By examining traditions like Aboriginal yarning circles, we illustrate how deep listening and alignment with the environment foster a collective coherence. We posit that psyche and mind are distributed across networks of people, place, and ancestors, rather than being contained within the private self. Ultimately, dialogue is presented as a lived practice of belonging and a way of participating in the ongoing creation of the world.
